Lying amid dense forests of Oaks and Pines, Nachiketa Tal Trek is a lake on Bhagirathi River’s bank in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand at an elevation of 2457 m. It is a serene and tranquil lake, surrounded by lush greenery and snow-capped mountains. The trek to Nachiketa Tal is a perfect getaway for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas and an opportunity to experience the rich flora and fauna of the region.
The trek to Nachiketa Tal is relatively easy and can be completed in 2-3 days. The trail takes you through dense forests, picturesque meadows, and charming villages, providing a glimpse into the local culture and traditions. The lake itself is a sight to behold, with crystal-clear waters reflecting the surrounding mountains.
The best time to visit Nachiketa Tal is from March to June and September to November when the weather is pleasant and the skies are clear. During the winter months, the lake is often frozen, creating a magical winter wonderland.

Day 1: Dehradun to Uttarkashi

🛣️ The drive is scenic and runs alongside the Ganga River, through lush forests. Your base camp is located beside the ASI Ganga River.

Day 2: Uttarkashi – Chaurangikhal – Nachiketa Tal – Return
